What is life without ignorance? :: essays research papers

What is life without Suffering? We all suffer from being ignorant. Is it possible to end your ignorance? According to the Buddhist theory it is. It is possible to end your ignorance and all personal desire to eventually become enlightened and reach Nirvana, which is utter peace. Ending your ignorance will in turn end suffering. The Buddha taught that there were many natural occurrences that led up to ignorance and that we all are capable of liberating ourselves from. It is true that we all have desires that our unmet and it causes problems in our lives. It is also true that the world is full of hunger, war, death, and over all misery and pain. But what would our world be without problems. If we all were enlightened and free of all our ignorance then our lives and world would be incredibly boring and uneventful. We don’t like having problems and challenges but our lives are about working through problems and overcoming and learning. Ignorance does cause many problems but knowing everything about our world can often bring you down instead of up. Losing ignorance is very important in maturing and evolving as a person but losing your ignorance is not the end to all your suffering. There is no end to suffering, there are breaks but there is no end. According to the bandits theory life is full of misery and pain. Everything we have and want brings some sort of pain to our lives. We fear losing what we have and we always want more. Buddhists believe we all are born with this feeling and that we all cling to objects in this world for enjoyment. We all have a lot of natural desires because we are all human beings with brains, senses, and feelings. All of this makes us get impressions of what we want, what we want to be, and what we think should happen. This causes us all to have some ignorance to many different things and ideas. It is correct that our lives are full of misery and pain. We also are all ignorant, but having ignorance and some suffering in your life is what makes our world what it is, it is what makes our lives interesting. The problems and obstacles that we have in our lives help us change and help us grow. If you eliminate all of your problems and all your desires, what do you have to live for?

Essay on Depreciation Methods

Memorandum To: From: Subject: Depreciation Value of your Special Purpose Machine Date: Congratulations on your purchase of this special purpose machine. With every purchase of a new machinery comes the depreciation value of the machine. In order to report the value of this machine, we first must figure out the total amount paid for your machine. It says here you purchased the machine for an invoice price of $1,200,000 and the freight cost was $6000 and the cost for installation was $64000.We would add all that up and get a total machine cost of $1,270,000. There are 3 types of depreciation methods we can use to figure out the annual depreciation value of your machine: Straight Line Method, Units of productions Method, and Double Declining Method. The Straight Line Method is plain and simple. This will tell us what to report at the end of every year for the depreciation value of your machine. First we would take the cost of the machine minus the salvage value divided by the useful lif e of the machine.I believe the salvage value would be the use of the machine in that year. For example: the total cost of machine is 1270000-200000/5=214000: 200000 would be the salvage life and 5 would be the useful life of the machine and 214000 would be our depreciation value for the year. So after the first year of use the book value of the machine would be 1270000-214000=1056000. Every year we would subtract 214000 from the previous book value. The Units of Productions Method is a little more complicated. This will tell us the estimate depreciation value of the machine. First we would take the cost of the machine minus estimated salvage value divided by the predicted units of production that your machine would produce and we would get a cost per unit (depreciable). After we get the cost per unit (CPU), we would multiply it by the units produced in the period and we will get the depreciation for the period, also in the last year of the useful life of the machinery we would deprec iate to the estimated salvage value and never depreciate below the value. For example: the cost of the machine is 1270000 minus the salvage 200000 divided by the expected units that your machine would produce in its useful life which is 1000000. 1270000-200000/1000000 = $1. 07 per unit, this would be the cost per unit. Let’s say your machine will produce 200000 in its first year, so we would take the depreciation per unit multiply the number of units produced in the period, 1. 07Ãâ€"200000=214000. 214000 would be the depreciation expense for the first year and we would minus that from the beginning book value of the machine. If the machine produced 250000 the next year, we would go thru the same process again but this time we would subtract the depreciation value from the previous year book value and not the beginning book value. The Double Declining Method is the last method we would use to figure of the depreciation value of the machine. First we need to figure the straight- line rate and in order to do that we need the percent life of the machine and the useful life of the machine. We would divide each other and come up with the Straight-line rate. For example: 100% divided by 5 years equals 20% that the machine would depreciate very year if we should the straight-line rate. Second step we would double that rate, 20% x 2 = 40%. 40% would be the double declining balance rate (ddb). The final step we take the double declining balance rate multiply by the beginning period book value. For example: 40%x1270000=508000. 08000 would be the first year depreciation expense. The book value at the end of the first year would be 1270000-580000=762000. The next year we would take 40% of 762000 and come up with the depreciation expense for that year. In its final year of useful life the machine would never depreciate below the estimated salvage value and we would just have to adjust our books. Mr. Abella, now you know how to depreciate the value of your machine. Once again I congratulate you on your purchase.

The Revelation Of The New Testament - 971 Words

This sanctified â€Å"Divine Encounter† establishes a connection within a realm of total purity and grace. Noticeably, Philip mentions again that one’s Divine partnership resides beyond one’s earthly-fleshly one; impressing that one’s spiritual, sexual essences with the Divine occur as one’s true ultimate prize in life and afterwards into eternity as the New Testament states in Revelation 21:1-3. Even through, the direct expression of ‘bridal chamber’ is none existent in the Bible; however, the reference of bride and/or bridegroom does exist in several books such as Isa 62:5, Matt 24:1-13, John 3:29 and Rev 21:1-2. Having these terms discussed there, conceivably gives credit to the realism of this state of being; in fact, within the New Testament the word bridegroom (referencing the Divine) is mentioned around seventeen times. In addition, the Apostle Paul, in Rom 7:4, proclaims this divine marriage. The appearance of this bonding t erminology (bride, bridegroom, and bridal chamber) involving scared consecration; clearly indicates a divine union to permanently occur. One specify parable of Jesus, strangely likens the kingdom of heaven to ten virgins waiting for their marriage to take place with one bridegroom; in due course, the marriage indeed takes place with only five of the virgins invited in, Matt 25:1-13. With that said, the circumstance of apparent polygamy occurring is evident; however, this proves to be improbable due to Jesus’ teachings regarding marriage to oneShow MoreRelatedThe Book Of Revelation, By The Old Testament And The New Testament Essay1506 Words   |  7 PagesThe Book of Revelation is conceivably the most fascinating of all the books in the Bible. Elderly Abuse for Friends - and Families - MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theElderly Abuse for Friends, and Families. Answer: Elderly abuse is commonly referred to as the neglect and abuse of the elderly by carers, friends, and families. The old people are very vulnerable individuals in the community just like children. When associating with the elderly, it is crucial that one gives them respect and dignity, both for their life experience and their wisdom (Kosberg Garcia, 2013). They should be allowed to have their dignity, and participate in decision-making processes until that period they become mentally unable. Studies show that most of the reported cases of abuse are perpetrated by the family members and not the carers (Dong, 2015). There are many types of abuses, these include; physical abuse, sexual abuse, financial abuse, psychological abuse, neglect and abandonment among others. All these abuses negatively influence the health of the seniors. The suffering brought by these abuses have in some cases shortened the lives of the elderly (Kosberg Garcia, 2013). Among these abuses, the common one is the psychological abuse, and this discussion focuses on this type of abuse. Psychological Abuse This abuse is the act of causing anguish, distress and emotional pain to a senior. The main forms of this abuse include; treating the elderly like children, insulting them, intimidation, as well as verbal assaults. Verbal abuse is the most prevalent form of this abuse. There are cases where the family members or the carers would use insulting words while attending to the elderly (Dong, 2015). The perpetrators often think the elderly cannot comprehend what they are saying or are powerless. The emotional pain can also be caused non-verbally by neglecting the individual (Kosberg Garcia, 2013). The psychological abuse often manifests itself because the seniors feel less empowered to handle other forms of abuse like the physical abuse. References Dong, X. Q. (2015). A Day in the Woods Turkey Hunting Essay Example For Students

A Day in the Woods Turkey Hunting Essay Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm loudly jolts me out of my dreams and I knock the repeating racket off the nightstand. Rubbing my eyes, still heavy from slumber, the trek outside and to put on my camouflage gear begins when I remind myself, â€Å"Don’t forget the turkey vest. † After gathering the necessary shells, guns, and calls, I start the truck, close the door, and plug in my phone in an effort to stay awake on the drive to the woods. While driving I look out my windows gazing upon the wilderness and the vast fields, realizing that at this very moment the birds and I are the only beings awake. Finally, after 30 minutes of driving I arrive to the spot I scouted all year. I turn off the truck, look at the clock and see 4:30 a. m. glowing in the twilight. Turkey hunting consists of more than just waking up and going out into the woods. A true hunter must learn the bird, their travel patterns, the appropriate calls, and most importantly, the nightly roost. Learning a turkey’s travel pattern truly challenges one’s patience. A hunter must scout all year; and that means getting up early. Turkeys are creatures of habit. One must understand the birds’ daily activity and know where the activity takes place for the remainder of the year. Learning the bird’s morning routine demands diligence. A sportsman must slowly walk along paths, wood lines, and fields looking and listening for turkey evidence: prints, dropped feathers, and clucks to discover exact trails and destinations. While maneuvering both quietly and covertly is essential, it is also a learned skill and requires persistence, perseverance and, most importantly, practice. Do not ask me how I know that any misplaced step or sound allows a turkey to spot the hunter, cluck and run. Calling a turkey is both methodical and strategic. A hunter must think like a turkey and actually put himself in the bird’s position. It is the old boy pursues girl syndrome. As a boy, I, too, am struck with this ailment. I tend to go in the direction of the girl I am ensuing. A boy turkey is not different. The trick is to call cleverly enough that the tom believes he is following the sounds of his female. I have been turkey hunting countless times in my life, and (just like the human boy/girl aspect) it gets trickier every year. I called in a bird this past year, but once he got approximately 60 yards away he just stopped gobbling and strutting; so, I stood up to see if he was coming. When I stood up, there he was (not 20 yards from me) just slowly and effortlessly making his way towards me. The moment he caught a glimpse of me, he was gone. (Hmmm Is it just me, or is there a recurring correlation between my turkey hunting and my relationships? I was confused and then realized he came in only because I was still there silently making calls, yet I stood up and scared him. Calling in a gobbler proves difficult most of the time; they will be what most turkey hunters call it â€Å"henned up† or just distracted by so many other female turkeys that they pay no any attention to the hunter or the calls. One of the more fun aspects of turkey hunting consists of roosting the birds because one can stand a great distance away and make one simple call to pinpoint their location. When roosting a turkey listening is essential and allows the birds’ whereabouts to be discovered. This is extremely important, as it allows the hunter to contemplate the appropriate strategy. Owl calls, crow calls, and plain old hen calls can work wonders when roosting a bird. They are turkeys -one of the biggest birds in the woods and want to be heard, so if they hear something trying to take their â€Å"thunder,† they will answer right back from miles away. .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .postImageUrl , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:hover , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:visited , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:active { border:0!important; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:active , .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc1989a65020466366912e14d9964e39a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Martin Luther King Jr And Malcolm X EssayTurkey hunting proves difficult because the birds do not comply with the strategies and thoughts of the hunter. I have been turkey hunting for 11 years. Sometimes I go into the woods and â€Å"wing it,† yet other times I go with a plan. Like any other sport, the sportsman wins some and loses some. No one harvests a bird 100% of the time. Turkey hunting is an art, requiring finesse, slyness, and cunningness to be able to get near a bird. I will continue to turkey hunt for a very long time; I will not stop just because I did not get one the previous year. Ultimately, turkey hunting to me is more than a fun sport; it is addicting, time consuming, and most importantly challenging. Each day brings a new opportunity that mandates a specific skill set. Sometimes I conquer; sometimes I fail. But like everything else worth pursuing, each failure offers a chance for growth. Like the old saying goes, â€Å"Some people live and learn; others just live. † I like to think turkey hunting provides me a spot in the realm of â€Å"living and learning. †
